Many had imagined it, others dreamed of it, the Run Mate will organize it! On September 28-29, 2019 , you will now be able to run a relay around the largest lake in Europe: the magnificent Lake Geneva. The departure and arrival will be in Vevey, the host city of the event.
In teams of 6 to 9 people, or 2 to 5 runners for the Ultra version, each “Mate” can run several times to help their team complete the tour of Lake Geneva! It will be up to the teams to build their race as they see fit in order to accomplish this great challenge together. In total, more than 200km of breathtaking landscape punctuated with laughter and unforgettable moments. This Franco-Swiss event will see 29 municipalities in the cantons of Vaud, Valais and Geneva as well as the Haute-Savoie department host a relay point.
The course will be divided into around thirty relay points, of varying distance and difficulty, allowing each participant to run in turn while the transported team goes to the next point to encourage and wait for them. In addition to the sporting part, fun challenges based on the history and culture of Lake Geneva will enhance the participants' experience. An event which will adapt perfectly to a collective challenge for companies, clubs, groups of friends or even students (the organizers offering a special rate for the latter).
The adventure will take place over 2 days and one night. The start will be given from Vevey on Saturday and the time will be determined according to the teams' announced times. The “Mates” will have the opportunity to live a unique sunset and sunrise experience. The arrival will be on Sunday with a giant barbecue to celebrate the team's accomplishment together. And this is how La Run Mate will mark everyone’s minds for life!
Elina Leimgruber, Vevey union member, declared: “It is an honor and a great joy for Vevey to be the host city for this first relay race around our beautiful Lake Geneva. We extend a cordial welcome to the organizers and participants of the Run Mate, an event which perfectly embodies the slogan of our 2016-2021 legislature: “Vevey, city on the move”!
Benjamin Chandelier, event director, said: “We are really happy to be able to offer the first relay foot race around Lake Geneva. A cross-border event which will allow you to discover or rediscover the countless assets of the region and our beautiful Lake Geneva: the landscapes, the history, the culture... while running as a team. »
“We would particularly like to thank the city of Vevey for their welcome and all the municipalities hosting a relay point for their support and trust without which the organization of this event would not be possible. »
Registrations will be open from April and you can benefit from the best rate until midnight June 18: www.runmate.org
