OC Sport Pen Duick, a subsidiary of the Télégramme Group specializing in the organization of the biggest French sailing races, now owns the Tour de Belle-Ile, a regatta that has become emblematic thanks to its tasty mix of amateurs and professionals, which line up in large numbers on the same starting line to complete a splendid 42-mile course around Belle-Ile-en-Mer.
Aurélie and Romain Pilliard, creators and organizers of the event, are passing the torch to the OC Sport Pen Duick team, which will be responsible for orchestrating the next edition.
Created in 2008, this annual regatta has become the largest sailing race in France in terms of the number of participating boats; it is among the most recognized regattas in the world, along with the Round the Isle of Wight in England, the Bol D'or in Switzerland and the Barcolana in Italy.
“ It has already been a good ten years since the Télégramme Group was interested in acquiring this 100% Breton event ,” declares Hervé Favre, president of OC Sport Pen Duick. “The strategy of OC Sport Pen Duick and the group is to invest in events that have potential or a very good brand image, which is the case with the Tour de Belle-île. This makes sense from a regional and sporting point of view, because this regatta holds a special place in the world of French sailing. »
Canceled due to pandemic in recent years, OC Sport Pen Duick wishes to give itself time to work with all local stakeholders, in order to provide an event that meets the expectations of participants, partners, the public and all stakeholders. committed.
The next edition will therefore be held in spring 2024, and everyone will have to wait a little longer before seeing more than 500 sailboats on the same starting line again and relive the intensity of the event.
Edouard Coudurier, CEO of the Télégramme Group
“We are very happy to be owners and organizers of the Tour de Belle-île. It's a great event that has grown from a simple course and concept: mixing both amateur and professional runners.
The Tour de Belle-île is an event which has become an unmissable event on the calendar for sailing enthusiasts: for OC Sport Pen Duick it is interesting to organize this general public regatta which in this sense is a little different from the events that we are used to offering it to professional classes.
Le Télégramme has also been a media partner of the event for many years and the fact of having the hat of organizer further marks the establishment of the Group in Morbihan which is already a partner of Atlantique Le Télégramme in Lorient .
Aurélie and Romain Pillard have created a superb concept: we are going to start again on the same bases, with a lot of ambition.”
