A pioneer in assisted reality solutions, AMA becomes Official Supplier of La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe 2022, the Solo Ultim World Tour 2023 and The Transat CIC 2024. By offering all the competitors of the queen of transatlantic races alone its XpertEye solution, the Breton company will make available to the latter, but also to the organizer OC Sport Pen Duick, a unique collaboration platform which will allow them to interact with sailors for medical or training needs. technical assistance in perfect consistency with the regulations for the categories of boats which benefit from it. A first for an event which, at almost 44 years old, has not finished reinventing itself.
Since its creation in 1978, La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe has always been ahead of its time. The first to line up multihulls of all sizes, it is also the great race which in 2006 saw the bows of the Class40 fleet raised for their inaugural solo transatlantic and the one which represents an absolute deadline for the development of the most boat innovators. 2022 will be no exception to this desire to innovate further, for sport but also and above all for safety. In this aspect, the Breton company, AMA, which today joins the team of Official Suppliers, will play a key role. It will offer each of the sailors involved, all classes combined, the opportunity to leave with its XpertEye assisted reality solution and connected glasses which allow them to see, on land, the same thing as the competitor, at sea. A system which has an obvious use from a medical point of view, to make a diagnosis, to help a doctor guide the actions of the skipper who must suture a wound... But the use of the XpertEye will be far from limited to this between Saint-Malo and Pointe- à-Pitre. The race director and the president of the technical committee of the French Sailing Federation will, for example, be able to check directly the self-sealing of the propeller shaft by the competitors before starting. Another possibility of interaction between land and sea: for categories which have access to assistance*, it will be easier for the sailor to report a damage on land, the technical team being able to ask him directly for a plan on this or that defective element to draw up an inventory.
In addition, AMA, in collaboration with the C3S training center of Groupe Hospitalier Bretagne Sud in Lorient, will offer training and innovative medical equipment for competitors.
The use of the XpertEye will naturally be subject to the connection means present on board the competitors' boats, but will also be closely regulated by the race management who will primarily make it a tool dedicated to safety.
A race ahead of its time!
Through this partnership which will be launched on La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe 2022 and will continue on the Ultim Solo World Tour 2023 and The Transat CIC 2024, AMA wishes to demonstrate its know-how and unite its collaborators around an event which is based on a base of common values as confirmed by Thomas Waendendries, VP Sales & Marketing: “The AMA teams take this project very seriously, both technical and human, which represents our finest values. We are happy to be able to support all these sailors during technical and, if necessary, medical procedures in order to support them throughout this legendary race.”
An enthusiasm legitimately shared by Joseph Bizard, General Director OC Sport Pen Duick: “The Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe has always been ahead of its time. It is therefore quite natural that our rapprochement with the AMA teams had to be made. The XpertEye solution will be used for the very first time in the 2022 edition and will offer us an undeniable additional guarantee in terms of security and medical assistance. Finally, being able to offer it to all sailors, regardless of category, is an essential point for us! ".
The AMA teams will be present on the OC Sport Pen Duick stand as part of the Paris Boat Show from December 4 to 7. They will thus have the opportunity to present XpertEye to the competitors who will line up at the start of La Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe on Sunday November 6, 2022.
*Remember that certain classes such as Imoca or Class40 do not allow assistance.
