Generali Switzerland will be, from the 2022 edition, the new Title Partner of the Geneva Marathon. The insurance company has supported the event since 2017 as an Official Partner. With strong local and international roots, Generali Switzerland shares many values with the Geneva Marathon such as diversity, proximity and sustainability. The company particularly highlights the inclusive nature of the event, the variety of formats offered as well as the quality of the organization. These different factors led the two entities to make the decision to bond even more closely.
One of the main reasons why Generali Switzerland is committed to running is the ease of access that practicing this sport offers. Mike Fuhrmann, Chief Marketing, Customer & Communications Officer and member of the management committee of Generali Switzerland, explains: "You don't need expensive equipment to run. If you train with discipline and set a goal for yourself , you can surpass yourself. We are delighted to support – as Title Partner – the Geneva Marathon, which is an inclusive and sustainable running event."
“The Human Safety Net Switzerland THSN”, new charitable partner
The Generali Switzerland foundation “The Human Safety Net Switzerland THSN” will also be the new charitable partner of the Geneva Marathon. The foundation supports projects and associations in Switzerland which act for the benefit of disadvantaged families and people who are refugees or from immigrant backgrounds. These projects all have a common objective: to create opportunities that will allow beneficiaries to improve their living conditions. Mutual aid and solidarity are the main drivers of each commitment.
The foundation is also involved in running. Together with Tadesse Abraham, the fastest marathon runner in Switzerland and brand ambassador for Generali Suisse, she created the "THSN Refugee Team".
By setting up this racing team, the foundation's primary objective is to facilitate the integration of migrants through sport. At the same time, it supports, through targeted activities, those who aspire to a career in the field of running.
In order to best prepare for one of the Geneva Marathon races, Generali Switzerland will offer running training in March and April to all registered people wishing to take part. These training sessions will be supervised by four members of the “THSN Refugee Team” who have completed coaching training and have an Elite Sports certificate.
A new impetus for the event
“Our collaboration with Generali Switzerland has been going on for several years and we are delighted to see it evolve today and to allow them to reach the rank of Title Partnership” exclaims Benjamin Chandelier, director of the event. “We have experienced some great editions accompanied by Harmony and we sincerely thank them for that. It is with great pleasure that we announce today this new partnership which will allow the marathon to continue its development. Generali Switzerland is an important societal player that shares our values of inclusion through sport, performance and diversity. This new challenge delights us and we can't wait for the runners of the Generali Geneva Marathon to set the streets of the city of Calvin alight”.
