Work Environment

OC Sport Outdoor (based in Lutry, Switzerland) manages a portfolio of major running and triathlon events around Lake Geneva, alongside providing consulting services for brands, local authorities, and other event organizers.


You will join the team responsible for organizing key events including:


  • Generali Genève Marathon

  • Run24

  • Genève Triathlon

  • Run Mate by Core Lean Lac Léman

  • Triathlon d’Evian

  • Balexert 20km de Genève



Job Description

Reporting directly to the Project Manager – Mass Events, you will hold a hybrid role centered around two main pillars:


1. Volunteer Program Management

Drive volunteer satisfaction, engagement, and retention across key events (Generali Genève Marathon, Run24, Genève Triathlon, Run Mate by Core Lean Lac Léman).


  • Develop and execute overall volunteer program strategies

  • Assess staffing needs and plan volunteer allocation across events

  • Lead the recruitment of volunteers and team leaders

  • Manage all volunteer management platforms and tools

  • Create dedicated volunteer communication content

  • Build and nurture the volunteer community year-round via newsletters, dedicated social media channels, and social gatherings to maintain engagement between events

  • Evaluate requirements and order volunteer apparel, gear, and gifts

  • Serve as the main point of contact for individual volunteers and local non-profits before, during, and after events

  • Draft Volunteer Guides and design post-event satisfaction surveys

  • Act as the direct operational link for supporting association partners

  • Design a medium-term retention strategy to turn casual volunteers into long-term brand ambassadors

  • Monitor industry best practices in volunteer management across sports and cultural sectors, introducing innovative ideas to enhance the overall volunteer experience

  • Manage a junior intern

  • Oversee and manage the allocated budget


2. Internal Logistics (Staff & On-Site Teams)

Ensure seamless operational delivery for internal staff, contractors, and on-site support teams (Generali Genève Marathon, Genève Triathlon).


  • Serve as the primary hub for on-site team logistics (accommodations, radios, catering)

  • Manage rooming lists and accommodation bookings

  • Evaluate needs and order official organization uniforms and kit

  • Design and publish the staff Roadbook

  • Oversee administrative coordination for team members

  • Manage and monitor the logistics budget


Candidate Qualifications


  • 3 to 5 years minimum experience in volunteer management within the event industry

  • In-depth understanding of running, triathlon, and endurance sports operations

  • Personal experience as an event volunteer

  • EU/Swiss citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit (required)

  • Exceptional organizational skills with proven ability to collaborate in a team of 15+ professionals

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken)

  • Valid driver’s license (required)

  • Strong knowledge of the Geneva and Lake Geneva regional non-profit networks, institutions, and geography is a major plus
