Removal of water bottles
Thanks to our collaboration with Geneva Industrial Services (SIG), the Geneva Marathon became the first in the world in 2012 to eliminate individual water bottles at its aid stations. This pioneering system, relying exclusively on the local water supply network, has since been implemented at all of our events.
Some figures :
- 2012 : The year the Geneva Marathon removed water bottles from its aid stations
- 140 000 : Number of bottles to be avoided by 2025 across all our OC Sport Outdoor Switzerland events
- 1 000 000 : Number of bottles saved since the start of the initiative at the Geneva Marathon, representing 20 tons of plastic saved
- 20 tonnes : Amount of plastic saved thanks to this initiative
