We are committed to delivering world-leading outdoor sports experiences while driving change towards a cleaner future and maximising purpose.
Nature has been at the heart of OC Sport since the very beginning when the company was established to manage Ellen MacArthur's offshore sailing career, and so it's no exaggeration when we say the environment is part of our DNA. From our routes in sailing, to expansion into mass events, the natural world is at the heart of what we do.
Today, we face our biggest challenge from the threat posed by climate change, and as a global sports management company we have a responsibility to take action.
We will continually rethink how we deliver our events to drive change towards a cleaner future and minimise carbon, and we will use our global platform to raise awareness and maximise purpose, ensuring everyone can continue to enjoy outdoor sport for many years to come.
Our sustainability strategy has a central goal of achieving company-wide carbon neutrality by 2028 and sets out to deliver exemplary leadership across all of the company's operations by using the power of OC Sport events to maximise purpose.
Carbon neutrality by 2028
The world needs to decarbonise to slow down global warming to 1.5 degrees by 2050. And we can make a difference.
By 2028, OC Sport will be carbon neutral across all of its event and business operations. To achieve net zero carbon emissions, we will maximise the reduction of our carbon emissions and invest in projects to offset the remaining emissions that can't be avoided.
As part of the roadmap, OC Sport's mass participation events, which include the Generali Geneva Marathon, La Tour Genève Triathlon, Run Mate by Core-Lean and the Geneva 20km by Genève Aéroport, will achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2025.
OC Sport's sailing events will be carbon neutral by 2028, including La Solitaire du Figaro, The Transat CIC, Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe and La Transat en Double - Concarneau - Saint-Barthélemy.
We're also working to minimise emissions in our offices in France and Switzerland with a target to have a net-zero carbon footprint by 2023. We'll reduce our travel, follow a sustainable sourcing code for the procurement of products and services, develop comprehensive sustainable operations plans for each of our events and engage all of our team to be part of something bigger than us.
By 2028, OC Sport will be carbon neutral across all of its events and business operations.
Maximise the impact and value of climate action
Through our events, we have the ability to reach and influence a huge number of people. We want to use our platform to inspire others to take action - participants, fans, host cities, partners, and more.
We will Rethink how we engage with all stakeholders on environmental and social issues to heighten the impact of our actions.
We've also joined forces with 200+ other global sports organisations as a signatory to the Sports for Climate Action Framework hosted by UN Climate Change. Signatories work together to strive towards climate neutrality within the sports industry for a safer planet and to get on track for a net zero emission economy by 2050.
