The 2022 edition in brief:
180 teams set off on Saturday 24 September from Montreux to complete a 220km relay around Lake Geneva. The programme included 28 relay points, trails, breath-taking landscapes, a festive and friendly atmosphere, and a human adventure during this unique and exceptional sporting experience.
The spirit of the event in Montreux and an historic loop
For the first time, Montreux hosted the 4th edition of Run Mate by Core-Lean Lac Léman. The event was added to the many festivities already taking place in the town. Unlike other years, the participants ran the loop in an anti-clockwise direction, much to the delight of many, including runnerAnaïs, who said with a smile on her face and stars in her eyes: "It's my 4th participation and I'll come back for a 5th time for sure. This new route has pleasantly surprised me, with breathtaking views and even nicer mates. It's a real tourist route, you discover and learn to appreciate the Lake Geneva region".
More than "Mates", real heroes
Solidarity was at the center of this 4th edition, which welcomed the Dirk Müller Foundation as Official Charity, with many teams also supporting causes close to their hearts. The Joel’Stars team succeeded in covering the 220km with 50 runners taking turns throughout the day from Saturday to Sunday morning to help their 6 team mates, or ‘joëlettes’, with disabilities complete the course. "We did it for them and for all of us, who love running and sharing moments together through this sport. Of course, it's a real challenge but our motivation and our moments of sharing carried us throughout the night andto the finish line. The emotions were very strong when we arrived in Montreux after 28 hours of racing! We are very proud of what we have done and we thank the organisation for offering us this beautiful course."
The event has been an adventure over two days and one night, that many have been able to appreciate, including the Koh-Lanta Team which is made up of Colin Mottas , Marie Oheix, Jérémy Raffin and Alexandre Tournaud. "This event teaches us a lot about teamwork and pushing our limits. It was an incredible adventure with friends from Koh-Lanta around Lake Geneva. Here, group performance is more important than individual performance! In the end, I think it's harder than Koh-Lanta Team (laughs)," explains Colin, team captain, after taking up the challenge and crossing the finish line in 19:03:53.
A word from the organisation
Benjamin Chandelier, director of the event, expressed his joy at the end of this 4th edition: "We are very happy to be back at this festive, magical and unique event which offers an extraordinary experience to our participants through the Lake Geneva region and its magnificent landscapes. We would like to thank Montreux, which was our new starting and finishing point and which welcomed us in very good conditions. I would also like to salute all those who contributed to the success of Run Mate by Core-Lean Lac Léman, whether it be our volunteers, our partners and in particular our new Title Partner Core Lean, the local authorities in Switzerland and France and all the municipalities that we crossed. Finally, a huge congratulations to all the Mates for setting the lake on fire”.
