Prologue, Day 2: Dongfeng battles light winds

It has been a long night on board. A big decision had to be taken – do we stay on the coast of Portugal or remain offshore?

This morning Jeremie Beyou sums up the overall situation: “MAPFRE and Brunel have taken the decision to remain close to the shore up north because we cannot see them anymore on our navigation system – which only shows the AIS of boats within 8-10 miles of us.”

Closing out the 2017 season on the slopes of Mont Ventoux

The 2017 Haute Route season came to a close today on the slopes of one of the most famous mountains in the world, Mont Ventoux. The 400 participants on the final and 6th Haute Route event of the year took on this renowned mountain in a time trial format this morning, aiming to conquer the giant for the third day running.

After having climbed up Ventoux from Sault on day one and from Malaucène yesterday after 120km of hilly riding, riders took on the most well known side of the mountain today from Bédoin.

“It’s always been a dream to ride Mont Ventoux”

The final event of the 2017 Haute Route Cycling Series began today in Bédoin as 400 amateur riders from across the globe arrived in the race village to collect their bibs for the sold-out Haute Route Ventoux. With three days of incredible cycling on the menu for the inaugural edition, the atmosphere in the race village was a blend of excitement and anticipation. Over the next three days riders will get to experience the legendary Mont Ventoux in all its forms; with a total of 268km and 7,800m of climbing scheduled across the three stages.

Queen of pro surfing Courtney Conlogue drops in on Dongfeng

American pro surfer Courtney Conlogue dropped in on the Chinese Volvo Ocean Race team in Lisbon where the crew, led by Frenchman Charles Caudrelier, is making its final preparations for the Volvo Ocean Race starting on October 22.

After a short sail with the team sponsored by China’s Dongfeng Motor Corporation, Conlogue, 25, currently world number two in the women’s World Surf League, leapt at the chance to go up the rig.

US wildcard team Lupe Tortilla Demetrio announced for remaining 2017 Extreme Sailing Series™ Acts

US-flagged wildcard squad Lupe Tortilla Demetrio is to join the world-class international fleet for the remaining two Acts of the 2017 Extreme Sailing Series™ in San Diego and Los Cabos.

The all-star American syndicate - which is sponsored by Texan restaurant chain Lupe Tortilla and Demetrio Tequila - will make its debut on the GC32 as the Series hits the waters of San Diego Bay on 19 October.
